Today my boyfriend and I finally took a trip to the National Stud to see the stunning Japanese Gardens. I’ve seen pictures of it many times and I’ve always wanted to see it after it always appeared on Winning Streak years ago.
We knew it was going to be a nice day weatherise so we took off early to make the most of the day, and went straight to the Stud. The Japanese Gardens themselves are quite small, but the layout and the numerous small and steep steps really add to the location. We were the only ones in there and it was so peaceful with the sun shining and water trickling down the stream. It was so fun to explore and I’m glad to have finally seen it, the little red bridge was definitely my favourite part.
Then we went into the gardens which were equally just as beautiful, and also took a walk through the woods which leads into the stables. We really were blessed with the weather and made the scenery so much more captivating. Again we were the only ones in the woods and stables so it was like our own little tour. The gardens go on for miles and miles and you can even go out and see all of the champion horses in the fields and read a little information on each one and their victories. With Autumn finally upon us the leaves were starting to fall on the ground which made me feel so autumnal and I loved it! There was also a small museum on the grounds that displays some great pieces about horse riding history.
After all that walking around we definitely worked up an appetite, so we stopped for a bit of lunch in the main restaurant. We stopped for breakfast before we got there so I wasn’t overly hungry and I just got a slice of cheesecake, which was amazingly delicious! Time really flew whilst walking around the gardens and we didn’t even notice the hours fly by. We then left and had to make a quick stop into Kildare Village Outlet to have a quick mooch with it being so close by. Thankfully I contained myself and sadly left empty handed.
I really want to start exploring more of Ireland and I’m so excited I’ve finally crossed this one off my list.
Hope you’re having a great day,
